“Teeth-in-a-Day”

An Alternative to Traditional Dental Implants

At the Winnipeg Dental Implant Centre, our Specialists have shared in the frustration and challenges denture wearers face on a daily basis. Whether they are new to wearing dentures or have been wearing dentures for most of their lives, our denture patients all agree that even the best dentures do not come close to replacing the function of healthy, natural teeth.

Some of the challenges denture wearers experience regularly are: sore spots on the gums from rubbing dentures, a decrease in bite force, loose dentures that move around and cause embarrassing moments in public, difficulty speaking (whistling and clicking of denture teeth), or the inability to eat many foods.

Many people who wear false teeth also complain that their food tastes bland. This is because the roof of the mouth is covered by the upper denture, interfering in the ability to taste food while eating.

If asked, most denture wearers would admit to wishing they could have healthy natural teeth again. For many years, the next closest thing to natural teeth was conventional dental implant therapy, which provides excellent results, but is costly.

There now exists a more affordable technique for permanent, non-removable teeth that are fully functional and done with very little pain or discomfort in just one treatment session. Nicknamed, “Teeth-in-a-Day”, this procedure has seen very high success rates on thousands of patients in Canada, and in Europe, where the procedure was developed, as well as in the United States.

This new treatment technique is known as “All-on-Four”. Instead of placing six to eight implants in each jaw, only four implants per jaw are strategically inserted to support the non-removable prosthesis. Sometimes it is possible to use the patient's existing denture, transforming it from a removable prosthesis into a non-removable one. For other patients, a new non-removable prosthesis may be fabricated for use on the implants. The result is reliable, natural looking teeth that remain in the mouth full time.

 How it works:

  • A thorough, complete dental examination, and an i-CAT scan is taken, usually during your first visit.
  • Using all the information available, along with sophisticated computer modeling,  your Specialist designs an ideal tooth arrangement for each patient.
  • Based on our expertise and your needs, a treatment plan and implant placement guide are created.
  • When all of the advanced planning is completed, the patient can be scheduled for the “Teeth-in –a-Day” procedure.
It usually takes only an additional hour or two to modify the denture(s) and install them, after which the patient walks out of the office with minimal discomfort and a beautiful new smile.

There is no large bulky denture, rubbing on the gums or covering the palate, and best of all, you never have to take your teeth out of your mouth!

This treatment will allow you to regain your quality of life, feel confident eating in public, dating, smiling and laughing without the fear of your dentures falling out. If you feel self-conscious about the way you look without your teeth, or maybe you crave to eat what you want, as well as be able to taste and enjoy your food again, then this may be the solution for you at about half the cost of traditional dental implants.
